Taking a bus from Pune to Velha or Nivi  village on the Margasni-Velha road alight at Gunjavne phata and follow the road to the village. Here one can have a good hot Poha and tea at the canteen.  From the village a path goes through the fields and climbs gradually.  From here it takes around  one hour to reach a plateau from where one can see Pali village on the right and chor Darwaja on the left with railings fixed for the safety.  After entering through the darwaja one can see the Padmavati lake and to the right is the Padmavati temple.  This is Padmavati machi, going ahead there is a bifurcation, the right one goes to Pali darwaja and Sanjeevani machi, the middle one to the Balekilla and the left to the Suvela machi.  The Balekilla affords a an excellent view of the surrounding regions.  The sanjeevani machi is a double fortification.  For Torna, one has to go from Sanjeevani machi, cross the ridge and climb. 

    There are around five different routes to Rajgad.  Rajgad being the backbone of Maratha empire was constructed by Shivaji Maharaj.
