Catching the Kalyan-Junnar bus from kalyan alight at Vaishakhare or request the conductor to stop the bus at Naneghat bifurcation or a milestone marked as Kalyan-60km ( 3 Km from vaishakhare) Walking ahead
from this milestone on a cart track one can see the Nanacha angtha just above. The walls of this pass jutt-out from the main range and hence command a
magnificent view of the great bend in the Sahyadri. This pass was basically used
as a trade route between the konkan and the deccan. After walking for about half an hour and crossing a nala an erratic climb
begins. The total time taken to reach the top is around three hours. On the top of Naneghat, are a few beautiful caves. In the rock-face adjacent to these caves one finds cisterns filled with fresh water.
At the top, Naneghat, widens into a plateau. From here one can go to Kukdeshwar
temple, Junnar via Ghatghar, 5 km which is last road which heads from Junnar. On the left of this plateau there are some structures and a huge stone jar. On the right one can find some rock-cut caves, one of which houses Lord Ganesha. To reach the top of Nanacha Angtha, one has to climb up past these caves. From here to the north; one can
have a view of Kalsubai, to the south Bhimashankar, to the northwest; is Harishchandragad and to the northeast; is Mahuli,
across the Konkan plains, with its cleft shattered pinnacles. To southwest; behind Siddhagad, are seen the level tops
of Matheran, the great comb-like rock of Chanderi & pinnacles of Haji Malang are also visible.
