This trek can be undertaken by alighting at Igatpuri. Catch
a ST bus which goes to Pune, Rajur or Bhandardara and get down at Bari in about an hour. It is around 30 Km from Igatpuri. Start climbing the hill
after crossing the stream which takes one to the temple in half an hour. Follow the path behind the temple and a gradual climb takes one to a ladder. After crossing three ladders on the way and a walk of about two hours, one comes across
a well. The final crest lies just beyond this well. On the left side of the crest, a chain has been fixed on the route to the top, but one has to be very careful
while going up. For an easier route, walk straight ahead and climb another ladder
and reach the top. From the top one can see Ghanchakkar, Katrabai, Ratangad,
Alang, Madan and Kulang. The top of Kalsubai houses the Goddess Kalsubai. This is the highest peak in Maharashtra Situated at the height of about 5400 ft
There is another route to reach Bari.
After a walk of 10 minutes from the well there is a bifurcation. The path
on the left descends while the other goes straight ahead. Take the straight path
and proceed towards the col through tall grasses. After 10 minutes one comes
across a bifurcation the path which goes down to the left goes to the PWD guest house at Bari
and the other goes to the Khutta.
From Khutta the trail descends down through a thick forest and
reaches a plateau in 25 minutes. From here walking to another plateau one has
to descend and take a left turn and reach Shendi village.
